Independent record label, Social Family Records (“SFR”), is thrilled to announce they have signed three incredible Australian artists to their roster. Joining the family is award-winning Christine Anu, Amber Lawrence and Jason Owen.

“We must be one of the luckiest indie labels on the block this week” says SFR Co-Founder and CEO Jake Challenor. “Our latest signings – Christine Anu, Amber Lawrence and Jason Owen – are joining an all Australian roster of multi–award winning artists, each one enjoying independent success with SFR. Our little family is getting bigger, the team is getting stronger, and we’re all so excited to share these new records with their respective fans and kick some serious goals together.”

One of Australia’s most successful indigenous performers Christine Anu will be releasing her first Christmas album ‘Island Christmas’ in November through SFR. Christine is a multi-ARIA Award winning performer, with an illustrious career over two decades spanning across music, theatre, dance, film, television and children’s entertainment. “What a passionate and dynamic label SFR is – they are like a breath of fresh air. Christmas is such a special time and I can’t wait to release my very first Christmas album – one for the entire family to enjoy,” says Anu.

Amber Lawrence has joined SFR to release her highly anticipated fourth album ‘Superheroes’ in September. Lawrence is supporting the release by doing what she loves to do most – touring and performing across the country. On joining SFR, Lawrence says, “I’m thrilled to be signing with a label that is so innovative and energetic and who believe in this new album as much as I do!” ‘Superheroes’ is a departure from her former sound, with a much earthier, rockier country feel.

Jason Owen became a household name as a finalist in 2012’s The X Factor. Born and bred in the country, Owen won the hearts of many as the young man who performed with his heart on his sleeve and had a huge love for his family and country life. His debut album entered the ARIA Album Chart at No. 5. Owen will release his 2nd album with SFR and is excited about the forward thinking and passion the label is bringing to this release already. “Joining a new company such as Social Family Records on my second album is very exciting. They’re a progressive company with their unique and tailored marketing and sales format and their enthusiasm is second to none. We’ve got a killer album that we all believe in, bring it on!” says Owen. The first single ‘Damn Right’ from his second album is due for release in August. Owen will kick off the release with a huge promotional tour down the east coast of Australia.

Social Family Records is a growing independent label who is passionately and proudly working with Australian artists including Baby Animals, Damien Leith, The Dead Daisies, Steve Balbi and David Campbell via his label, Luckiest Records.

Social Family Records is an independently minded record label living life on the fringes and working to the beat of their own drum. SFR help remarkable artists build and nurture deep connections with their audience, while retaining full creative and commercial control of their career and copyrights. All SFR releases are distributed in Australia by EMI/ Universal and internationally by The Orchard. Their direct-to-fan platform, the SFR Store, is an ARIA accredited retailer.
